Farmers’ Dialogue about the Agriculture of Future on the World Farmers’ Day
TürkTraktör, the first manufacturer in the Turkish automotive sector, organized an event at the Sakarya Erenler Factory for farmers from the four corners of Turkey in celebration of May 14, the World Farmers’ Day. Bringing together the TürkTraktör management and the farmers, the event allowed the farmers to closely observe the production process of tractors while enjoying mini competitions. Aykut Özüner, TürkTraktör CEO, made important statements about TürkTraktör’s vision of “Transforming Agriculture, Preparing for the Future”. Emphasizing Turkey’s importance as the largest agricultural economy of Europe and the tenth of the world, Aykut Özüner, TürkTraktör CEO, expressed the possibility of climbing the ranks by using modern production methods and technologies. Expressing TürkTraktör’s experience of 68 years and pioneering works in modern agriculture, Özüner shared the commitments stated in the Future of Agriculture Vision, prepared by TürkTraktör, with the farmers at the event held at the Sakarya Erenler Factory. Özüner said: “With this Vision, we commit to accelerating our efforts to expand the use of technology in agriculture, to carrying out projects to improve the perception of Turkish farmers about the environment and climate change, to accelerating R&D studies for the development of agricultural equipment that will increase productivity, to expanding our initiatives for the protection of nature and Turkish agriculture, and to increasing the awareness of the public on sustainable agriculture.”
Tarlam Cepte: Digital Support for Farmers
Speaking about the work carried out to support the farmers on their journey of digital transformation, Aykut Özüner, TürkTraktör CEO, shared important figures and information about the Tarlam Cepte (Mobile Field) digital app: “We took one of the first steps of digital transformation in agriculture in 2019 with the launch of the Tarlam Cepte app, which provides digital decision support to farmers in agricultural activities. With a user base of more than 45,000, Tarlam Cepte is one of the most-used apps in its category. The latest version of the app offers instant weather forecast, field plant health analysis, plant growing recommendations, agriculturalist support and current fertilizer, pesticide and market prices as well as a plethora of information to increase productivity.”
Automatic Steering Systems Ensuring Maximum Efficiency for Farmers
Özüner also underlined TürkTraktör’s hard work to introduce and popularize the first domestic tractor models with semi-automatic transmission and automatic steering system. Özüner gave insights about the steering system: “The tractor models equipped with these features are some of our products specially designed for farmers to get maximum efficiency in agricultural production. Today, our farmers can access cutting-edge technologies such as satellite-guided steering system, which ensures the plowing of fields with a precision of two cm, thus providing input savings. What’s more, this system, through the use of technology, allows the performance of some activities at night, which can traditionally be completed in daylight. This way, our farmers can use their time more efficiently.”
