TürkTraktör Prepares the Turkish Agriculture for the Future
TürkTraktör, the first manufacturer of the Turkish automotive sector and Turkey's leading company in the agriculture mechanization, continues to support the transformation of farmers and agriculture. Offering close to 50,000 thousand high-tech tractors per year for various works on the soil, TürkTraktör completed the production of its 1 millionth tractor at the end of 2021. Increasing its investments in domestic production, TürkTraktör has reached a domestic component rate of more than 90%.Meeting with the automotive journalists for the harvesting event at Tanman Farm in Aydın, Aykut Özüner, TürkTraktör CEO said: “TürkTraktör started its activities in 1954 as Turkey's first manufacturer in the automotive sector, and manufactured its first tractor in 1955. The company's 500,000th tractor left the production line in 2007. Today, the global tractor market manufactures 1.6 million tractors annually while the production volume in Turkey is around 60-70,000. Moreover, the current tractor pool in Turkey consists of about 1.3 million tractors. These numbers prove the importance of manufacturing 1 million tractors for TürkTraktör. We are very proud and happy to reach this milestone.”
Özüner added: “We started the production of cabs for some tractor models in addition to engines, front axles and transmissions. With a domestic component rate of more than 90%, TürkTraktör manufactures the wide range of products by New Holland and CASE IH at our Ankara and Sakarya factories. We realize 68% of the total production and 88% of the total exports in Turkey, the world's fourth largest tractor market. Thanks to the interest of our farmers in our brands, our New Holland brand has been the leader of the market for more than 15 years in a row while our premium brand CASE IH is the third most-preferred brand in the market.”
First R&D Center of the Sector
“TürkTraktör is the only design center of the special New Holland TDD series and Case IH JX series, the main manufacturing center of Utility Light series tractors, and the only engineering and manufacturing center of 66 series transmissions,” says Özüner. “TürkTraktör employs more than 3,000 people at the state-of-the-art Ankara and Erenler factories. We continuously improve our product range through investments in new technologies and R&D. What’s more, TürkTraktör started the manufacturing of backhoe loaders in 2020 at the Ankara Factory.”
“We Have to Build a Sustainable Future”
Stating sustainability as one of the strategic priorities of TürkTraktör, Özüner said: “TürkTraktör’s aim of “Transforms Agriculture, Prepares for the Future” is in fact our commitment to future generations. The climate change and the pandemic showed that a sustainable future is not a choice, but an obligation. The strategic importance and value of the agricultural sector is felt more and more with each passing day. As one of the key players of the sector, one of our primary goals is to leave a better world to future generations. We have built our sustainability strategy based on this philosophy. As a company with more than 68 years of experience that pioneers modern agriculture, we continue our R&D studies at full speed to expand the use of technology in agriculture. We manufactured the first domestic engine in line with Stage V criteria, the most up-to-date emission level in the tractor sector. We use these engines in the T3F series offered by our New Holland brand. We continue our R&D works on engines that pollute the environment less and save more energy.”
Tarlam Cepte and Drone Spraying Technology Providing Savings in Time and Costs
Saying that TürkTraktör aims to prepare farmers for the world of the future with the latest technology products in line with the aim of "Transforming Agriculture, Preparing for the Future", Özüner also talked about TürkTraktör's digitalization efforts: “The Tarlam Cepte application, launched as a guide to farmers in the field of digital transformation in agriculture, broke the mark of 100,000 users. Through our Tarlam Cepte application, our farmers can access information on various topics such as plant growing suggestions, satellite-aided phytosanitary monitoring, live precipitation and storm monitoring. In line with our goal of helping farmers work more efficiently, we offer, as an option, modern technology equipment such as automatic steering, telematics and farm management systems in tractors by New Holland and CASE IH brands. We are currently developing a field spraying service with our five pilot dealers for drone spraying under our recently-launched TürkTraktör Drone brand. Our 30-liter unmanned aerial vehicle can spray up to 150 acres per hour, saving time and costs.”
